This year just prior to the holiday break, the Middle School Latinists, who chose to participate
(and almost all of them did), made an "Arbor Familiae" (Family Tree).
During the holiday season, people often flock to see houses and trees decorated for the season. Not to be left out of this annual trek to view trees, Middle School Latin families came to the Middle School to enjoy some refreshments, music by the MS Chamber Orchestra, and wander from room-to-room to view the exhibit of each Latinist's family tree or "Arbor Familiae", which visually outlines the unique history of his or her family. In addition, the students wrote a short description of a story they shared with the class about one of their family members (or in some cases a favorite pet). The holidays often bring families together, and this event did a beautiful job of doing that AND teaching the students Latin vocabulary words with which they can address their family members over the holidays.
