GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM IS LI CHAMP - Great Season, Girls!
NEWS FLASH: Coach Dave Spinella has been named Suffolk Coach of the year. Jalyn Brown made the All Long Island first team, and Shanice Allen and Melodee Riley made All Long Island second team. The RHS girls lost the Semifinal game against Penfield, but they won the hearts of the community! THE RHS VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM captured the Suffolk County Class AA Tournament title, which had not been done since 1984, by defeating the undefeated Hauppauge High School girls. Next, they took on and defeated the Class B champion, Southampton HS, for the Section XI title. The next win against Baldwin HS earned the team the Long Island Championship! On Friday, March 16th, the Girls Varsity Basketball Team participated in the semifinals of the NY State Championship. They lost to Penfield HS in the semifinals. This team honed their skills and their ability to work as a team. When one player was covered, another one stepped up. Two of the team members, Jalyn Brown, who will play at C.W. Post next year, and Shanice Allen, surpassed 1,000 career points. Melodee Riley, who has a full track scholarship at the University of Connecticut next year, noted that she will miss playing basketball at college. She made the most of her post season play time--rallying the team time after time. Melodee was named the Section XI MVP.
